Programs

  • Fall, Winter, Spring Training

Cricket and multi-sport programs are run by trained youth coaches and supervised by a responsible adult. Multi-sport program includes Basketball, Badminton and Soccer Practices on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm at Valley Park Middle School. Youth from 7 to 21 years old are welcomed.

The cricket program for youth aged 7 to 12 years old is on Thursdays from 6 to 10 pm at Valley Park Middle School. Youth aged 13 and up train from 6 to 10 pm Tuesdays and from 2pm to 5pm on Saturdays at Valley Park Middle School.

Fun tournaments are held at the end of each term. Snacks are provided.

  • Go Green Community Garden

VPMS Ecoschools staff currently plant, maintain and manage a food garden with VPMS students. A partnership is being explored with other community groups to expand and share this community garden.

  • Project Webfoot

Ducks Unlimited sponsors Project Webfoot, which trains high school students at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute in 2014-15 to mentor Grades 3 and 4 students at surrounding elementary schools in wetland curriculum. DU and MGCI are using the Go Green Wetland as its demonstration site.

  • Go Green Multi-sport March Break Camp

Multi-sport programs run by trained youth coaches and supervised by a responsible adult cater to youth aged 7 and up for five days in the Valley Park Middle School double gymnasium from 10 am to 5 pm. Programs are available morning or afternoon. Fun tournaments are held at week’s end. Snacks are provided however children are expected to go home or bring a boxed lunch.

  • Leadership Training

MLSE Foundation and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities support this program. All of our staff aged 18 years old and higher pass Vulnerable Sector Screening conducted by the Toronto Police Service. Most recently on December 19, 2015, Sgt. Mansoor Ahmad, President of the Toronto Police Cricket Club and Constable Asad Khan of 13 Division & TPCC Captain conducted a conflict mediation training session with our youth coaches and older cricket participants in advance of our Fall Cricket Tournament Awards Ceremony.

  • Go Green Summer Camps

Multi-sport programs run by trained youth coaches and supervised by responsible adults cater to youth aged 7 and up for five days a week for seven straight weeks from 10 am to 4 pm. Youth move safely to various locations including the Go Green outdoor sports field, the Kiwanis amphitheater, the MLSE multi-sport court and the VPMS double gym and cafetorium. Fun tournaments and a limited amount of field trips are planned throughout the summer. Snacks are provided however children are expected to bring a boxed lunch. Lunch is supervised.
