Who we are

Why Go Green?

The VPMS program was awarded TDSB Platinum status in June 2015. All of the sports field’s surface rain water run-off and underground storm water drain to an adjacent bioswale which directs excess water flow to the wetland and butterfly meadow.

What we offer?

The Go Green Cricket and Sports Field delivers accessible ecological, recreational, sports and leadership programs for youth in the Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIA’s) of Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Parks.

In 2013, the City of Toronto’s Community Recreation Investment Fund sponsored the Go Green Cricket and Sports Field training and development of a youth-led cricket coaching team for one-year. As a result of this incentive, the coaches now lead our programs, such as March Break, Summer CampSpring Cricket Training. In 2015, MLSE Foundation and Canadian Tire Jumpstart supported this coaches training program. From this support, Go Green became a multi-sport facility.

In 2015, the Ontario Sport & Recreation Communities Fund provided Go Green with two years of funding to support its TNO Go Green Cricket & Multi-Sport Summer Camp through through to March Break 2017. For the past three years, our youth coaches’ full-time summer and year-round part-time salaries have been paid by the TDSB’s Focus on Youth Toronto, the Canada Summer Jobs and the Ontario Summer Experience programs. During 2015-16, the MLSE Foundation is enabling Go Green to pay for its indoor VPMS Saturday permit and year-round part-time coaching salaries for its multi-sport programs.
